On December 6 , we came together for our 4th Annual Pancake Breakfast to recognize the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. With support from NorQuest College, we welcomed several inspiring guest speakers who shared their experiences and knowledge.

culture embraces individuals with disabilities as sacred gifts who contribute important strengths and perspectives.
Anna Wolfe, who is Deaf, spoke with interpretation from her daughter

Stacey Supina from the Premier’s Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities also joined us. He shared insight into his role, praised the work happening at Horizons Centre, and connected with attendees throughout the event.
Community organizations were on site to share helpful resources, and
guests enjoyed inclusive activities such as sleigh rides, a petting zoo, and a holiday pop‐up shop featuring creations made by Horizons Centre participants.
Review Caffe 56
4814 56th street in Wetaskiwin
We arrived at about 10:30 a.m. and found a good place to park. When we went up to the building to go in, the sidewalk ramp was very steep and hard to get up. They did not have an automatic door to get in so made it a little hard. Once we got in, we noticed the tables and chairs were neat and tidy. They had very nice pictures on the walls. The waitress was very friendly. The restaurant was nicely decorated for
Christmas. Everyone came out of their comfort zone and had something they don’t usually have. Andrew and Amanda had a latte and Jean had a cappuccino. The latte tasted good because it had whipped cream in it. The cappuccino tasted good because it had cinnamon in it. They do offer healthy treats such as blueberry
banana muffins. They also offer sweet treats such as sugary mini donuts.
Caffe 56 also serve sandwiches and wraps. The cost for a specialty coffee and a treat was about $10.00. The waitress brought our orders to the table which was nice to not have to wait at the counter. The bathrooms are wheelchair accessible and the door was light and easy to get into. We thanked the waitress for her good customer service. When we left, we walked down the sidewalk to a different sidewalk ramp by the motel and it was easier to get down.
Caffe 56 is open Monday to Friday 8 :00 a.m. to 6 :00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 10 :00 a.m. to 5 :00 p.m. but on
Thursdays they are open until 8 :00 p.m.
We are definitely going to go back again. We like it there!
